How do Bruno and Bella get warmer?

Most kind things you do for yourself add warmth to the adventure meter:

Each goal counts once a day. Cocoa, honey cake, breathing, check-ins and tuck-in count once a day, and paw notes twice a day. Doing more is always welcome. It just adds no extra warmth. At 100 warmth you can send the bears on an adventure.

How do I earn honey, and what is it for?

You start with 25 honey and earn more by caring for yourself:

Spend honey in the Cabin shop on magic that appears in the bears' world, like fairy lights, lanterns and fresh snowfall, or on new rituals such as extra breathing patterns and paw note prompts. Cocoa costs 20 honey and honey cake 60, and each can be bought once a day. The shop shows how much more honey you need for each item. Cocoa and cake wait if the meter is already full or the bears are away. Honey is only for fun in the app and has nothing to do with real money.

How do adventures work?

When the meter reaches 100 warmth, tap Send them on an adventure. The very first trip takes just three minutes. After that, a trip takes about three hours, or if they leave between 15:00 and 05:00 they stay out overnight and come home at 07:30. They always bring something home. The first visit to a place brings its postcard, and every trip back there brings a new letter that remembers your week. Tap a postcard in Journey to read it again, and use Older and Newer to browse earlier letters.

What is a cozy night?

Any day you do one kind thing for yourself is a cozy night: finish a goal, check in, breathe, write a paw note, tuck the bears in or send a warm paw. The bears' day runs from 05:00 to 05:00, so a late evening still belongs to the day before. Cozy nights in a row add up, and the flame on the Home tab shows how many you have.

What is a snow day?

If you miss a day, Bruno keeps the fire going for you. One missed day every seven days is quietly forgiven, and your cozy nights stay safe. Miss two days in a row, or miss another day within seven days of a snow day, and the count starts again. That is okay too: the bears just start over with you.

What is the promise?

When you start, you promise the bears a number of cozy nights in a row. Keep it and the next promise is waiting: 3, 7, 14, 30, 60, 100, 200 and 365 nights. You pick 3, 7, 14 or 30 nights when you start and can change it in Me → Edit. If the count starts again, your next promise goes back to the one you picked.

When can I tuck the bears in?

Tuck-in opens at 17:00 (5 PM) and stays open until 05:00, once a night. Times in the app follow your iPhone's 12- or 24-hour setting. Tell the bears one good thing about your day and they go to sleep under the northern lights.

Can I change my name or goals?

Yes. Tap Edit in Me to change your name, who talks first and your promise. Your name is optional: without one the bears call you friend. Tap a goal on the Home tab to complete, skip, snooze, edit or remove it (removing can be undone for a few seconds), and tap Add to add a new one. Tap a paw note in Me to read it again or delete it (deleting can be undone for a few seconds).

Will I lose my progress?

Everything lives on your iPhone. There is no account and no cloud copy of your data, so we cannot restore it for you. Your progress is included in your normal iPhone backup (iCloud Backup or a backup to your computer), and restoring that backup onto a new iPhone brings it back. Deleting the app deletes your progress, and so does Me → Start over. Bearly Plus is different: it belongs to your Apple ID, so you can always restore it (see below).

What are gentle nudges?

If you allow notifications, the bears send one gentle nudge a day at 8:30 in the morning or 8:30 in the evening, planned a few days ahead. While Bearly is open, reminders stay silent. There is no nudge on a day you have already done something kind, and if you do not open the app for a while they send one quiet hello and then stay quiet. With nudges on, you also get a reminder when a snoozed goal is due and a note when the bears are home from an adventure. Everything is scheduled on your iPhone, not by a server.

How do I turn nudges off, or change the time?

Go to Me → Daily nudge. Switch it off to stop all reminders, or pick the morning or the evening time. You can also turn off notifications for Bearly in iOS Settings → Notifications.

Can I turn off the motion?

Yes. Me → Calmer cabin keeps the bears still and removes snow and confetti. Bearly also follows the Reduce Motion setting on your iPhone.

The reminders stopped

Check Me → Daily nudge in the app and that notifications for Bearly are allowed in iOS Settings → Notifications. Nudges are planned again every time you open the app.

How does sending a warm paw work?

Pick a message in the Paws tab and tap Send a warm paw. The iOS share sheet opens, and you choose how to send it: Messages, Mail or any app you already use. It never passes through us.

What is Bearly Plus?

Bearly Plus is part of version 1.1 and later. It is an optional extra for the bears' world, and it adds:

There are three ways to get it:

The app shows the prices in your own currency. Everything else in Bearly stays free: goals, check-ins, breathing, paw notes, adventures, postcards, the Cabin shop and gentle nudges. To see Plus, tap Me → See Plus.

How do I restore Bearly Plus?

Plus belongs to the Apple ID you bought it with. On a new iPhone, or after reinstalling Bearly, sign in with that Apple ID and tap Me → Restore, or Restore purchases at the bottom of the Plus screen. Bearly asks Apple which Plus products you own and switches the extras back on. Restoring never costs anything.

How do I cancel my subscription?

In Bearly, tap Me → Manage subscription. You can also open iOS Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose Bearly Plus. Cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends to stop the next payment, and at least 24 hours before your free week ends if you do not want to pay at all. Plus stays on until the period you paid for is over. Apple handles all payments, so refunds are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. Plus for life is a single payment, so there is nothing to cancel.

How do I redeem a code?

Tap Me → Redeem code, or Have a code? on the Plus screen. Apple's own code sheet opens. Type the code, confirm, and Plus switches on. If you got a link instead, tap it and the App Store redeems the code for you. On iOS 16.2 or earlier, the button opens Apple's redeem page instead. Enter the code there, then come back to Bearly. If Plus does not show up after redeeming, open Bearly again or tap Me → Restore.

What happens when a subscription ends?

The pocket aurora and Bella's pep talks leave, and the rituals go back to honey prices. Everything else stays just as it was: your goals, cozy nights, honey, postcards, paw notes and anything you bought with honey. Your data never leaves your iPhone, so nothing is lost. Subscribe again, or choose Plus for life, and the extras come straight back.
